They Don't Make Like They Used To

There are some bands you can't help tapping yo' foot to. For instance...

Helmet

Karen, this is how you do rock drumming!

Fugazi

I wish I was there singing with the boys!

Hum

If this song sounds familiar, it is the background music to a Cadillac commercial now.

Failure

Now you have to excuse me, I need to go and dry my eye!

I'd forgotten what a stud Henry Bogdan was, and probably still is.

thanks for the helmet lesson. the sound is good, but i'm more of a visual person. thanks for the post. i'm excited to know that you like queens of the stoneage. also, i felt good to know that of the music you selected - I knew one. :)

i don't know if i told you, but i went to rock on the range this last weekend in columbus and it was awesome. the stone temple pilots are back together adn they played for the first time in over 7 years. among other featured artists was staind, disturbed, 3 doors down, filter, drowning pool and serj. all of which had amazing performances. flyleaf was set to appear, but apparently the lead had a throat condition or something? not sure. here's the real question though. in a stadium filled with alternative rock and even some metal - why was kid rock a headliner? what genre is that really, and why would anyone in that audience be inclined to stay for his show? it's a riddle, but it was interesting to see that i wasnt he only one to skip down right before he went on. infact, i don't think that i have ever seen people flee in that manner. it's as if someone announced there was free gas and topless women in the parking lot. i escaped in time, but it was amusing to watch the pools of people held idle in traffic after implementing their exit strategies. more like "kid doesn't rock" or "kid it's past your bedtime". oh, and ps. travis is an awesome guy. nobody else brings me red bull.

Thanks for dropping in Karen. My blog-mate Joel, Tyler, and I all went to the Warp Tour back in the late 90's and Kid Rock was there. He hadn't made the big time yet but some people had heard of him there. He went on last and most people stayed to hear about three minutes of him and then left. We maybe stayed a minutes and a half but we are kind of music snobs anyway.
